    The Ganga is the Holiest River in India. The Ganga originates at Gangotri in Uttarakahand, at a height of 12,769 feet above sea level.

  • Think for Ganga

    'Think for Ganga’ is likely to get launched in July whereby people would be able to share suggestions and advices concerning cleanliness of Ganga. The aim to launch the portal is to connect people via virtual world for the program of cleaning the river Ganga.

  • Clean Ganga Project

    The government of India agrees that it needs to adhere to a policy so that effluents are no longer discharged into Ganga in order to make sure that it is successful in Clean Ganga project.

Mark Twain, the English author and literature, who was enthralled by the legend and sanctity of Benaras, once wrote: "Benaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend and looks twice as old as all of them put together”. According to the ‘VamanaPurana’, the Varuna and the Assi rivers originated from the body of the primordial Person at the beginning of time itself. The tract of land lying between them is believed to be ‘Varanasi’, the holiest of all pilgrimages.

The river is also one of the most polluted in the world, threatening not Only humans but also over 100 fish and 90 amphibian species.
